My best wishes go as well to our Baguio and Manila ad hoc officers and members. Congratulations on your latest accomplishment. I am especially pleased with the outcome of your mini election and of course, your preparations for a much awaited 2012 rendezvous. I salute you all for your hard work and for enduring our persistent nagging. I wish I could be with you to ease the burden, but I am sure you are all doing your best efforts. Please yell if there is something more than we here in the U.S. and Canada can or could do.//GALI

Romeo Manantan in Gen Santos City

Our active search for classmates is turning out to be a positive undertaking. Again through FaceBook, we made connections to Romeo Manantan through his niece, Mariz Manantan, who provided us with his cell number.

Leni Lou San Agustin estsblished the first connection: She said: "Just spoke to Romeo Manantan and he confirmed he is of class 62 of CTHi. He sounded so surprised that we were searching for classmates"

Romeo is in Gen. Santos City, Mindanao. For confidentiality purposes, other personal details will not be published on this blog. Information will be circulated via the class group email.

Another Justino Estoque Comment

Archie & Chit Mori
I have been following your on-goings on this Spot everyday while hibernating here in New Jersey and living the "American Dream" in semi-retirement. I commend all of you busybodies for your efforts to prepare for our Grand Reunion in 2012. I will soon be back in harness there to help you guys in this grand effort. Nagpapalipas lang ako ng ilan pang sandali para maka establis ng residency for our status here. But what really caught my eye in todays blog is the search for Justino Estoque. As you know, we belong to the same profession as geologists. While I have not seen him personally after our UP days after graduating in "68 and leaving Narra Residence Hall where Justino and I resided together, I have occasionally known/read about his whereabouts in the mining industry as connected to a foreign mining company based in Surigao or Agusan. I'm pretty sure he is still active in Mindanao working as a geologist since the opportunities for mining professionals are still good in the Phil. and elsewhere world-wide even in this bad economy, So, I think Leni San Agustin could be the best person to track Justino's wherebouts. Leni, just inquire from your contacts in the Bureau of Mines the active foreign companies in Mindanao and I'm sure his name will surface. This is the best lead I could give on Justino from my vantage point here.
I will not prolong my stories, as I expect to be back there very soon. Good luck and best wishes to all of you handsome guys and gorgeous ladies of Class '62. Archie Mori

Regarding Manny and Abit, those were the days, weren't they, when the U.P. Diliman campus was convulsing every now and then with anti-government, Anti-Marcos demonstrations and the university calender had to be adjusted every few weeks. But there were corners of the campus where only sweet love prevailed, and those corners were wherever Manny and Abit happened to be. Thanks for sharing your love story and precious photos of you and your wonderful family. More power and love to all of you !

Comments - Justino Estoque Search

Benjie said...
Leni, how nice that you were able to get info about Justino Estoque, even if it was his namesake and not he himself. A few months ago, I bumped into a Justin Estoque at the National Museum of the American Indian in DC where he works, and I asked him whether he knew Justino, since he shares his family name and his first name is missing a mere "o" at the end. Unfortunately, he didn't, and the search for our elusive classmate went dead. But he should surface one fine day -- hopefully, before our golden jubilee celebration!

Justino Estoque Actively Pursued in Search

Leni Lou San Agustin's Louisianna search for Justino Estoque generated response:
Justino Estoque commented on post:"Leni, kumusta? I'm sorry to let you know that I don't belong to your class 62 of Baguio City High School. Actually I am from Bohol (land of promise). Anyway, I am now serving as a priest here in Louisiana, USA. Kumusta na lang kay Justino, your classmate. Meron ibang Justino dito. God bless you. Fr Justino Estoque, Jr."

I wonder if it is only Abit & Manny from the same class that "matched" & still feel blessed??? Any other lucky pairs? Keep it coming, folks-we all love to read those stories & see those pictures. Comments - S. California Hosts a Reunion

Amelia said...
But, of course, it is globe-trotters like Renato, Cecilia and Alexander that can pull together last minute reunions. The warmth and care given to any Class'62 guest in California can only be due to the trio - Angel, Rod and Percy. So, who's next? I'm sure you'll love California anytime. Yet, other hosts are out there waiting too - right? Don't overdo your stints, though - save for 2012 in Baguio - See ya there - Ahmee

Slave Lake, AB to Southern Californians !!!

Atong said:
I wanted to let you know how good, gracious and generous those South Californians are. On very short notice (less than 48 hrs), they were able to organize, plan a dinner and for everyone to meet within the 4 days that we were in Anaheim. Cecilia, Alexander and I are always treated regally by them.

We made good use of about 3 hours just chatting about everything and nothing (politics, health insurance, economy, reminiscing, the latest of ailments among senior citizens and what afflicted us). It was enjoyable to share their company.

All I can say is get yourself out there and I am sure you will get the same treatment (if not better !!! ) from that wonderful BCHS gang and their famiies.

Hello Classmates. Many of you are wondering how Abit and I got married. Benjie Abellera had a hand in this. Well, here’s how. I was working for Leo Pharmaceuticals as a Drug Representative in 1971 and I decided to Room & Board inside the U.P. Campus in Area 17. I shared this Boarding House with Benjie Abellera and Rudy Cahulugan (I wonder where he is now?). Benjie suggested we visit Abit at Sampaguita Residence Hall, also inside the U.P. Campus. (Hey, Benjie, be thankful our marriage did indeed work out, otherwise I would be blaming you now, ha. ha.). The first visit was followed by another, and another, and by then I did not need the company of Benjie and Rudy. We tied the knot the next year, the 20th of February, 1972.

We have 2 children, Nel who is now 32, married to Abby and they have a one year-three months daughter, Nixie. Both Nel & Abby are Physicians. Maela, 31, our daughter (also an M.D.) is married to Roovin a Computer Engineer and we have a handsome grandson, Gavin, who is now a year and a month old.

I have retired but Abit, who is now known as P.I. is still working for St. Lukes Medical Center, as the Vice President, Research & Biotechnology. God has been good to us and we are indeed blessed.
