Celebrating a Birthday

Tonight, waiting for the Aurora Borealis phenomenon to appear, I sit in the comfort of my little kitchen instead of roaming the open spaces of the neighboring park... it is cold out there.  For a September day, it feels like the approaching winter nights of years before.

I keep watch of the skies from my bay window and as it gets darker I entertain myself to think we had a much more pleasant Thursday afternoon yesterday celebrating someone for her birthday.

Complete with antipasto and red wine, an order of veal scallopini, we had tartuffo ice cream around a centre of zabajone, covered in semi sweet chocolate and finely chopped nuts. As an aside, we shared a sweet (as sugary sweet) pecan pie.  All these made me forget how "old" the celebrant is this year, as we took pictures like three giggly teenage girls out for the first time away from parental authority.  Nice food, nice Italian ambience in the northern part of the city, nice company and lots of stories to tell.

"Smiling oldies"

Now checking, if I can catch a glimpse of that rare phenomenon which eluded us during our travels in June. If need be, I should just comfort myself to think that my "auroral" email addy is sufficiently displaying a greenish color.... LOL!
