Day of Breaking Silence

Let me start by congratulating everyone for all the time and effort spent (and continue to spend) in consolidating and disseminating a lot of information about our Great Class of 1962! Honestly, I have been enjoying all these email exchanges especially with the emergence of classmates whose company we have missed for so long a time now - Ito Edralin (my good neighbor in Marcoville), Elmer Alcoba, Mulong Lamsen, Beth Orpilla, Vickie, Glo and Luz! Indeed, so much have been said, written about and spread within our class and needless to say, I have kept quiet all along thinking that I'll just find my way through the class one day.

And today is the day I have decided to break my silence.

This is triggered by the report which Marcial sent regarding the status of our class funds. To say the least, I feel a bit disappointed to note that our funds have not grown since the time we decided to raise funds to start a class foundation with the end in view, initially, of helping classmates who may be in need of financial assistance. To the best of my recollection, I remember that the idea of setting up a foundation took place some time in 2002 when some 62'ers (from Baguio and Manila) met together at Danny Lee's house one evening. In that meeting were Pea-eye, Manny Natividad, Leda, Leni, Amy, Glo, Manny Flores, Iking (may he rest in peace), Vickie, Winnie, Bong, Danny, Estela, and others who I'm sorry I can't recall now. During that meeting, I pledged the amount of TWENTY THOUSAND PESOS (P20,000.00) which I eventually turned over to Pea-eye. As she will explain later, this amount has been in her possession for some time and will be remitted to Marcial. Therefore, I hope that the P5,000.00 entered in my name be rectified soon with the exact amount I contributed to be reflected instead. Having straightened out this minor detail in our Status of Class Funds, I submit that 3 years is going to pass very quickly. Hence, Pea-eye, Manny, Tammy, Leni, Amy, and I will meet (as a Manila Group) next week to determine how we can enhance our participation in Class 62 preparations for our Golden Jubilee. Until then, I wish all the best and regards to the BCHS Global Class of 1962.
