Art and Chit Mori - New Jersey

Gali Munar writes:
Art and Chit Mori are now permanent US residents. They are both residing with their children in Union, which is only about two miles away from us. I did not even know they were in my neighborhood until Art's email a few days after. Art's son married the daughter of our neighbor. A companero had mentioned my name to them.

Gali Welcomes Chit and Art Mori to NJ

Gali Munar writes:
It's better late than never. I hope my ignorance will account for the delay. Here are some of the pics that I have been wanting my two computer experts to upload for me. Finally, I just had to do the task myself by trial and error. Fortunately, I was able to transfer over those pics from Cyn's camera to my pc without any help. I suppose my two boys just wanted me learn. Reminds me of that line, "....when I was young my teachers were old, now that I am old my teachers are young." All pics were taken on or about 4/30/09 -- our mini(est) reunion. [[ email excerpt // photo by Gali Munar ]]

Email Excerpt(s) from Australia

Evelyn Pangan-Garaicoa writes:
I am taking this opportunity to catch up as much as I can for now. Soo..so.. happy to hear from you, I am really so fond of everyone. Thanks and the best part of all this is, it seems that we are all connected without even realizing that we have treasured the friendships that we all had and never thought of, one way or the other.

I came to Australia in 73. Yes, met my husband here. Yes, we are relations via Armingol's wife. My cousin and Armingol's wife are sister in laws. I remember Angelica, my neigbhour in Camdas. Mrs Bangaoet - I used to always share a little goss with me whenever we were riding the jeepney or I see her gardening, as i would greet her. Juluis Valdez - was in the Navy, he sent me a post card and not sure where he got my Phils address but was my neighbour as well, so the post card was a surprise. Then after a few years, the sad news of him passing away.. Jamelita Tolentino - i do remember her. Leda Parraan - yes,we do. Please send my regards to Amelia and Leda, when you have the chance to say hello again.

I had a long catch up via phone with Raquel Langit last night 24/6 9 (she called) and we intend to meet each other one day. Will keep you posted on that as well. Will share our goss after our catch up. Meanwhile, regards to everyone... cheers.... Will surely keep in touch.

Email from Down Under

Evelyn Pangan Garaicoa wrote:
Thank you so much for the newsletter. [[NB. Sent Evelyn a printed copy of the Blog posts ]]. It is really a wonderful feeling to know that everyone is keeping in touch with each other one way or the other. Appreciate the efforts, the contributions and thoughts to getting this circulated around and reaching each one of us wherever we are. Great job !!! I bow my head.

Let me share my encounter with Winnie as well. Berrima, Australia - at Penrose Park - Slogan here is "I Found a Friend at Penrose Park". Berrima is a Solemn place of worship like Medugorie, Fatima etc. Amidst the crowd, of so many pilgrims, I heard someone calling my name. I looked around - and I can't believed my eyes when I saw where the voice was coming from.. it was no other than "Winnie" Winifred Oliva. We had a twosome reunion at my place then followed by another at her sister in law's place. Just to say, that after all these years, we have recognized each other in a sea of faces, was unreal. We had a real goodtime looking back and talking of our high days (need to find our photos).

My next renuion - 1995 - Session Rd, Baguio City. Weather not so cooperative this day, I remember quite well. What a pleasant surprise as I wasn't expecting to see anyone and was heading for some errands. Standing on a corner street off Session Road was Gloria Turingan, Gloria Manalac, Dely Carrera all heading for a reunion at Teachers Camp (not sure if this was Elizabeth Balangue's place). I went with the group and saw Benjie Abellera there as well. We had a lovely day, just amazing!!! Again, we decided to meet at my place - in Quirino Hill. I have attached some photos of the day. [[ Sorry everyone.. photos not available at this time due to Technical difficulties...ie... blogsite do not accept .pdf files and Evelyn is rushing to convert them to .jpgs before she retires on Tuesday, June 30th ]]. NB. 'Will post pics as soon as we can.

Amelia on "Remembering Baguio"

Amelia said...
Definitely, the "good old Baguio" we will all want to remember and always return to. Like a song goes...."where have all those (flowers) pine trees gone,...long time going..." This should not deter any of us, though, from the 2012 50th reunion. Please save your funds and make time to have Class'62 hit the 100th mark attendance. Okay? There is still a Baguio in our hearts and souls - Ahmee

The Ordination of Manuel Flores Jr

We are extremely proud of you & our own Manny Sr. May your blessings be two-fold for the class of 1962 !!!

For those who remember very well the "antics" of Manny Sr in high school with a choice of just a 2x5 notebook and a broken pencil to write notes with (so they say), as well as to show off his befitting "macho" image to his barkada of old... Today, Manny enjoys the many blessings he had asked for in his children: an Accountant, a Nurse, a Doctor, an IT Consultant, a grand daughter and a triple load of blessings in the Reverend Father. **Photo by Glo Valeros

JAMES on "Elusive James" June 3 Posting

2 comments:
Pindol said...
James has isolated himself somewhere in Canada. He says he loves all his classmates and his happiest years were in high school; wants to say hello to all. He prefers not to get in touch anymore because of his dark past. He wants to share these lines from a poem he remembers --"though nothing can bring back the hour of splendour in the grass of glory in the flower we grieve not but rather find strength in what reminds behind." James is a repentant man; gives his love to fellow classmates and school mates.
